HOW TO TRUST GOD THROUGH A STORM

We all face difficult situations from time to time. Some of these storms are inevitable, and we cannot control the storms we face in our lives. No one wants a life that has so many struggles. As normal human beings, we tend to loathe suffering.  Storms vary, some of them are more intense than the others, but also different people react in different to different situations.

Trusting God throughout the storms is a mandatory to every Christian since it gives us the assurance that God has done it, and he will do it for us. In the Bible, Job trusted God throughout his storm, and he got his reward. His wife tried to make him insult God, but Job did not waver in his trust in God. He knew that God is the one who gave him all that he had, and he is also the one who took all that he had. Here are some of the practical ways of trusting God in a storm.

Talk to God about the problem you are facing

Vent to God about your difficulties, tell him about everything you are feeling, do not withhold your emotions. Do not let yourself sink deeper in depression and self-pity. Remember that when you pray, God can give you peace. Reaffirm your trust in Him and speak His blessings upon your life.

Turn to God’s Word

The Bible is full of real-life stories of some of the characters who underwent great storms but trusting in God, they overcame.

Besides, we are God’s masterpieces. You, therefore, require His word to know how to respond to difficult times. The Bible records how God has responded and stood with people who have put trust in Him in the past.

You need a good foundation of God’s to stand on, especially when you feel down in life. No matter the circumstances stick to the truth.

Psalms 121: 1-2 says,” I lift up my eyes to the hills. From whence does my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth.”

Keep your focus on God

It is a great idea to keep your focus on God during tough times, and not on your difficulties or finding the solution. Do not let your tough situations take your focus away from God instead; let them lead you straight to God.

Psalms 121: 1-2 says, ‘I lift up my eyes to the hills. From whence does my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth.’

Remember the promises God has given you

Difficult times should not let you forget about the promises God has given to you through His word.  No matter how hard the situation may seem, you can always remember that Gods’ plans are not to harm you.

Jeremiah 29: 11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans of welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. “

Moreover, Isaiah 43:2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Lastly, John16: 33 read, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Share your concerns with other believers

You should choose a proper fellowship for yourself. In a proper fellowship you gather to know God, walk with Him, and serve with Him.

You should not face difficult times alone. God is walking with you, and also gives you brethrens to walk with.

Philemon 1:6 says,” and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in for us for the sake of Christ.”

Walk in the Holy Spirit

Without the Holy Spirit, you are dead as a believer. The Holy Spirit is your constant helper as a believer.

The Holy Spirit searches God’s mind. He will guide you, and give you direction in accordance with God’s will during troubling times.

Moreover, the Holy Spirit energizes you with the power to overcome any difficult times in your life soberly.

Most important, if you walk in the Holy Spirit, you will hear God speak to you. You will know when it’s your time to fight, and when to rest and give God your battles.

According to Isaiah 28:11-12, “For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, “This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest,” And this is the refreshing,” Yet they would not hear.”

Wait on the Lord your God

Waiting on the Lord is a virtue you should practice as a believer. No matter how young, fit, and strong you are, you will experience exhaustion. You should learn to wait for God to act on your behalf.

.Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”

Conclusion

Some of the biggest storms are a platform for Gods’ grand work. At the end of a storm, He will work mightily in a person’s life. This is evident in the Bible, and in our daily life. God will never abandon His children after a storm. Trusting God through a storm is one of the best decisions a Christian can make. Storms and difficult times are part and parcel of a Christian’s life. They help to balance how people relate to God in good times and in bad times. The uncomfortable situations come to keep a Christian on the right track. Always remember that He is the God of the valleys and also the God of the mountains.
